Lovingly hand-dyed and sewn in Singapore by local designer Minyi, each piece reflects meticulous craftsmanship and care. Naturally dyed using 100% plant-based ingredients, no two are ever the same.
About the designer:
Minyi, a Fashion Design graduate from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Her passion for textiles and handcrafting led her into the countryside of Japan in 2013. There she studied traditional textiles and techniques under an indigo dye master. Upon her return, the deep rooted sense of affinity with natural dyeing and the craft inspired her to establish a studio where every project is an opportunity to blend tradition and the future.
絞り . Shibori
Shibori is a resist technique. Different patterns are create by first forming the fabric into various shapes ( by knotting/ stitching/ pleating/ clamping). The fabric is then secured to create a resist before dyeing.
Every stitch or fold interacts differently with different fabrics and dyes creating subtle colour gradations. Each creation will take on the characteristics of their maker. And so, no two pieces will look the same.
The process may take days and this element of surprise is always present due to the nature of shibori.
草木染め . Natural Dyes
There are many natural plants and roots that can be used to dye fabrics. Dyeing with nature is science, it is challenging but also rewarding. The palette of colours that comes from nature are endless. Every piece is scoured, tannin and mordanted before it is dyed. These processes allows for the colours to be fast and vibrant.
Care Instruction:
Hand wash with soft detergent/soap in cold water.
Hang dry in shade. Iron/steam (low to medium heat) garments on the reverse side.
Do not machine wash or dry clean. Colours may run for the first few washes.
Do not wash products together with other light colours items.
Avoid soaking the product.
